Sugar

All Kellogg's® sugar comes from plantations and mills located in Queensland, which is the premier growing area in Australia. More recently the growers in northern NSW have become involved in a new mill which has claimed a share of the total sugar market. Manufacturers’ Sugar is mainly handled in bulk, in either granulated or liquid sugar form. It is transported in tankers which can then be coupled to pneumatic pumping systems for transfer into silos and then into the food processing system.

Like many raw materials used in food processing, the transport of sugar calls for special techniques. Ready absorption of moisture means that air in the handling systems must be dried to minimise the tendency to form lumps.
